an art advisory in germany, artfacts, has updated its rankings. apparently they track 900,000+ artists globally based on verified gallery shows worldwide since the 1960s or so. their site describes their data and methodology.
for what it’s worth, artfacts is currently ranking me as follows, globally, for artists associated with —
minimalism — top 100
post-minimalism — top 50
post-conceptualism — top 50
conceptual painting — almost top 25
text-based art / typography — top 50
activist art — top 50
appropriation art — top 50
new media / photomontage — top 100
overall — of all artists they track (both global and US) they rank me in the top 15%
i have no way of verifying the data, but this is what they say, so there it is, for what it’s worth.
